Countrywide Park Homes may sound like they provide care for the elderly but the horses they own appear to be extremely sprightly at present. They’ve scored with their only two entries in the last few days: a rich vein of form. One of those winners, Jingko Blue won a class three novice handicap chase readily at Uttoxeter.
So, they run Jango Baie in the novice chase at 12.40. There’s been no time wasted, has there, pitching him over fences? Just five races under rules. I have a feeling that they might think a lot of this one and I’m happy to take on Caldwell Potter, who I know many people will fancy. I wasn’t taken with his jumping on his last win and I’ll willingly take him on.
It’s one of the things I love about national hunt racing: Chianti Classico (1.50), at the age of seven, seems like an old friend. How he’s come on since his novice days. He just keeps improving and the one thing that places him so highly is the quality of his jumping. He’s a natural and seems to love the game, too. Try as I might, I just can’t see past him in the race; he’s only had six chases and there’s no saying how much more improvement may be to come under the expert stewardship of Mr Bailey.
I’ll back both to win and double them up.
I’ll have to have a little ew pop in the Xcountry with Arizona Cardinal. I fancied the saddle off him at Aintree but that was called off. Whether this represents a consolation, I have no idea but I feel I should stick with him in a small way.
I’ll also throw a little ew on Torn And Frayed (2.25). I feel that there still might be a little more to come and he’s a nice price, I think.
