Fundraising Question

I have a question that hopefully someone can give me some help on. (not OTB or Slim)....

We are undertaking a series of fundraisers for the school I work in. We have a number of projects we have definately set in stone, but I have something I would like to explore further.

I would like to set up a text number, 56*58, whatever it might be. The idea would be that you would text the number and donate €2. The money would appear on your bill, or come off your credit balance. To entice you to do this, I hope to run a couple of draws/competitions. First one we may run if its deemed a runner is two heineken cup final tickets. We would be hoping the two Irish or at least one of them makes the final, and we would promote our draw through various methods. Thats not really important now, my issue is around the following;

How hard/easy is it to set up a text number, and where do I go to do this?
Has anyone had any experience of this before?
If so was it a success or failure?
Any do's or do nots?

I have googled it and got some information....I have come across some in the UK, justtextgiving service offered by vodafone.....
 
Isn't there some 'justgiving' site which worthys use to donate coin to various endeavours, del?

Doesn't sound like you'd have to go too far outside that model to achieve your ends? Random draw for the Cup Final tickets amongst the first thousand E2 in donations?
 
I seen the just giving site, was wondering if there is something similar in Ireland. The idea would be a random draw at a certain date, the more entries the better.
 
I think you may need a license Del, you also need to probably check is your school a licensed charity.

I would also delegate the treasury function to a non drinking, non gambling, non sex addict.....that is the exact opposite of a reprobate like you!! :lol:
