If that lot turn up that's going to be rather more of a test than either of the renewals Sprinter Sacre and Altior won as novices - and Sir Gino for all the class of his jumping at Kempton has less experience over fences than either of the others.

Surely better to take on L'Eau du Sud in the Kingmaker - but trainers are creatures of habit.

I was at Windsor when Matata won and was hugely impressed - a much-improved chaser and now on a mark of 163.

There are other good experienced horses in the race too.

And I'm hearing and reading all manner of bold statements about Sir Gino after he's jumped just a dozen fences in public.

There have to be better odds-on chances than a novice taking on seasoned chasers in only his second Chase.

That said, I wouldn't be keen to lay him either.

Different course, different ground, but anyone thinking Matata might get Sir Gino "at it" and put his jumping to the test might consider that Matata clocked 4m 3.18s round Windsor, while Sir Gino clocked 3m 48s round Kempton.

In no way would I take this literally for comparison purposes, but it suggests to me the chances of setting an early tempo on Saturday Sir Gino cannot cope with are slim.

Should be fascinating to watch.

I backed Matata that day. This is what I wrote before it:

My gut is telling me Crebilly might be good enough to win at the festival so they might not want to go up the weights. Harper’s Brook is risky because he needs to be put in front really near the line before he stops. Sans Bruit doesn’t instil confidence. Arctic Bresil might have his own ideas about the game. Martator ran on Saturday so will probably come out. Unexpected Party looks like they’re trying to work his way back down the handicap, maybe with a repeat go at the Grand Annual in mind. Editeur Du Gite looks a shadow of his old self, as does Etalon but in his case it has looked deliberate, again possibly with the Grand Annual in mind. Matata might therefore be the only trier in the race.

It reminded me of the gift Djelo got at Huntingdon (and, to a lesser extent Solness the other day ;) ) so I wouldn't over-read the result myself, which might cost me, but his new mark put handicaps out of his reach so he's pretty much forced to run in this kind fo race.

Nicky must be thinking this fellow is right up there with Sprinter Sacre to ask him to take on Matata at this stage of his career...Normally Nicky would be looking for an easy option before Cheltenham so obviously he has great faith in this horse...come home safe is the most important thing..I will watch with fingers crossed

Or Nicky is clean out lying and the horse goes to Warwick instead. It's usually about 1/10 to be the opposite of whats he's said.

Ffs Danny stop with the idiotic nonsense
Nicky has always done what is best for his horses. If that includes having a good excuses for switching venues he will rightly do so

Tanlic the two things aren't even related doing what's best for your horses and deliberately putting the public away aren't the same thing. He could do one without doing the other.

Nicky complaining about the programme book and that there are no alternative races apart from one at Bangor on 26.2 and the Pendil.

And for my next trick lack of prep run sees Sir gino switched to the Champion Hurdle with 48 hours notice as Constituion Hill who's preparation will have gone perfectly according to all at Seven barrows is heard to cough on the 9th of March.

You heard it hear first folks ;)

* Mount Tanlic erupts in the next 24 hours as he fails to see funny side.

A big shame about Sir Gino who was the star attraction for me and I won’t be going to Newbury now.

In his absence I think Master Chewy has a chance on this flat track although conceding weight to Matata and Liberty Hunter will be tough

You're about as funny as a fart in a spacesuit

When people are joking they use smileys to indicate so
.you are just a troll as far as Nicky Henderson is concerned..too many nasty posts to cop out now

I don't actually mind Nicky Henderson, but his constant complaints about the supposed lack of opportunities for his sick-note string to school round at long odds-on to hoover up prize money do get a bit wearing.

The ideal time between races for top class horses is ,4 weeks. That gives a trainer time to let his horse down and build him back to full fitness for the big day. This here's your choice take it or leave it needs sorted. I can understand the frustration

A troll and nasty posts ? (*Looks for confused smiley ) Can't think I've ever made nasty posts. As for forum etiquette with similes I don't really take much notice of them since someone removed the dancing banana one. So for the remainder of this post I'll just put a direct indicator.

From bits I've seen I take it you've some connection to the yard, you've had something to do with horses in the past, a jockey of some sorts owner and been around racing a while. I've never grasped the entirety of it. As for copping out I'm not. Do I believe Nicky Henderson is as corrupt as anyone in the game yes I do ( no jokey) Do I believe he genuinely puts the betting public away on purpose. Yes I do. (no Jokey) Does he do it for financial gain or just for his own amusement I don't know. Now that's my opinion on the guy ( no jokey) doesn't mean that I'm right, doesn't mean I'm correct but that's what I beleive. Now Henderson himself wouldn't give two hoots what a little fat dude on the internet thinks in fact if he knew he'd probably have a little chuckle to himself knowing I'm right and there isn't anything I can do about it. He lives a dream of a life that of the 0.001% of this world. ( No jokey) Now you might know him personally and tell me he's a man you'd put your trust in but it wouldn't change my mind as I've known blokes completely trust there wives before they came home and found them riding the neighbour like he was seabiscuit. You may have spent time around horses and know the ins and outs of that more than me but I'll guarantee I've spent more time around charlatans, conmen and tricksters to know one when I see one. He may talk like he's got a plum in his mouth, he may have been friends with the queen he may well up every time he gets a big winner ( Lots of Alcohol, old age and low testosterone will do that to a man) but he's still a bandit of the highest order i reckon he'd pinch the sleep out of your eyes given half a chance.

As for you Tanlic I like you, you seem like a good guy ( no jokey ) and I can always agree to disagree, I'm hoping one day to make it to Thailand and I'd love nothing more than to come and have a beer with you and listen to you tell me about your time in racing ( no jokey ). I figure if things get heated you've rode horses so you must be fairly small, you're retired so you must be fairly old, that sounds like a fight I've at least got a 50% chance of winning ( JOKE) more like 10% (JOKE ! Danny not fight Tanlic, Tanlic friend) .

Lighten up mate if Constitution Hill does make it and win the Champion Hurdle, you winning your bet will be the best thing about it for me. Gerrup ! ( No Jokey)

I suspected beforehand last time that Matata might be the only trier in the race and that’s how it looked so I have reservations about his new OR which is based on that run. Edwardstone is running well but some way short of his best of a couple of seasons ago but is vulnerable to the novices. I might look at Master Chewy or JPR One at tempting odds.
