Well Goodwood isn’t called Glorious for nothing. Haven’t been since pre pandemic and it was better than ever. It really is the best meeting in the world to go to in my opinion for several reasons

  • The setting is unbeatable
  • Parking for many is free and there are courtesy buses or buggies to get you to the course
  • It’s well organised to get out of the racecourse afterwards....no hideous queues
  • It’s well laid out so easy to get around
  • There are so many places to sit down!
  • Attention to detail including free strawberries and cream from 3.45 daily
  • Free rose buttonholes when people come in
  • All the staff are happy...and genuinely so. It’s not faked!
  • The racing is brilliant and you can easily get very close to the horses
  • There is minimal corporate

But Goodwood just get what it takes to make a great day’s entertainment. They are not after the spend, spend, spend crowd who are there to get pissed regardless. And as a result it’s a very pleasant experience.

I had a fabulous day and had five winners which went down very well with the friends I went with who provided the picnic and Pimms (my role was tipster so I delivered 😊).

Ryan Moore was at his most superb on Jan Brueghel and Opera Singer and later on Dreamy who has a fitting name. It was definitely worth looking at horses in the paddock as I picked out Mr Chaplin on looks and Sparkling Plenty ew.
