Been a bit of a mixed bag for me so far. Migration was a good start only for a plunge on Berkshire Shadow to go awry. Similar the next day with Nagano starting things off only for a plunge on Vadream to come unstuck. Pretty miffed that Jamie Spencer didn’t give her a better ride (or is that just money talking).
On to the next and came fairly heavily unstuck with Alfaadhel who ran well, but not well enough, but my tears dried when Lady Bowthorpe powered home.
And so to today, Baaeed was going to be my bet, but 1/2 is not on for me. Johan has already delivered and I’ll pass this time. I’m not usually drawn to long shots, but I can’t believe Arecibo is 25/1 - my comments after the a kings Stnd at Ascot.
His 28/1 second place was no fluke since he had been unlucky in the Palace House Stakes when he was travelling within himself only to be hampered with a furlong to go.
His early price had been 40/1 so there had been interest. In the race he was held up and had 14 of them in front of him with a furlong to go, he still had 5 in front with half a furlong left. I would think his closing sectional was pretty hot. Can win a Group race.
After that he fluffed his lines down in grade at Sandown in the Coral Charge. 2nd here he was ridden more prominently and found himself in front too early (unusual for Jamie Spencer). I think I’ll have a dabble.
