Missed a lovely day out at Newbury again (that’s two years running and I’ve not got many left!!), but even from the armchair the racing was grand. Who couldn’t be impressed by Al Aasy and his stroll in the park. Haggas says he can never get him off the bit at home and it was the same in the race. What he’s got when he does is anyone’s guess.
Palace Pier put the race to bed in a few strides in an imperious manner, but Lady Bowthorpe ran a career best cracker finishing closer to him than you would expect with the rest well behind. She’ll dine at the top table now, hopefully not below the salt for too long.
Creative Force was quite impressive, but Tactica was a disappointment. Taken off his feet a bit back in trip he really needs longer and will be ok when he gets it.
Meanwhile, at Newmarket I wan’t particularly impressed with John Leeper who I thought made hard work of it. Later on, my pocket was pleased that Jumby gained compensation for his previous unlucky run (where it seems Eve JH blamed Charles Bishop since Buick was up this time)
