Greatwood Hurdle

Early thoughts on the race. Anyone with a strong view on one?

One who interests me at a price is Baradari. Whether connections intend to run or whether he gets in are debatable. Will probably need a few to come out.

I backed Sea Lord.at 42 when entries were made, but that was before I realised he was trained by John Ferguson.

I dunno what it is, but I've developed a somewhat irrational aversion to that yard. A lot of their runners seem.....well?.....a bit bogus.

I made a fair bit off Sea Lord in summer 2013 and followed him over a cliff. He got found out on winter ground IMO

I'd also shortlisted Baradari. His price looks big and his form stands up to scrutiny with some of those at the head of the market. Plus Venetia's horses are well forward. The doubt as you say is whether enough come out for a run, or indeed whether she intends to line up.

I'm interested to see how Purple Bay gets on at Wincanton. :)
I've no idea if he'll be good enough, but he ran well in 7th place with top weight in the Galway Hurdle, and whilst he is high enough in the weights, there could be a nice prize in him at some point.
Also interested in another outsider in the Elite Hurdle that Euro has mentioned called Fox Norton, but I'd probably have Purple Bay to finish ahead as he's had a more recent run. He's also a bigger price.

Yeah definitely Colin. Not many horses can make mistakes, travel as badly as he did and still find the courage to prevail. Worth watching where he goes next.

Daneking really interests me at 14/1

3/1 is a shocking price for the Vaniteux

Quick question RE the race
Im holding back backing Daneking due to the support for Clondaw Warrior
Are the main firms offering NRNB on the race yet?

talked about this at the weekend. They always seem to underperform market expectations and maybe it's me and could be entirely wrong, but they don't always seem to see the races out. My mate routinely lays them when they run down here

Any news yet whether Daneking will run? I am led to believe Vaniteux is doubtful.

I have my doubts, The fact that the 14/1 is holding up and his stablemate has been backed for the last fortnight leaves me sceptical.
Vaniteux not turning up wouldn't be the worst news in the world for Barry Geraghty.

Ladbrokes still only 8s ?

Well done anyone who got the big prices on Baradari.
I give Roman Flight a good outside chance, especially as he beat Purple Bay in the summer who is now rated 161 after the Elite Hurdle win. Roman Flight won giving plenty of weight last time at Fakenham and seems in a rich vein of form. I fancy him to out run those odds.

Seems like Katgary wasn't suited to Aintree the last two runs but I still reckon he has a few pounds in hand of his mark and with a strong pace and plenty of cover back at Cheltenham I reckon he can go close.
18/1 looks decent.
