Following Chaldean's win yesterday - they got the pronunciation right in his previous runs so why did they change it yesterday? - there's a lot of talk about him for the Guineas but it isn't listed in his entries, whereas the Irish Guineas is.

Has the entry system changed?

Didn't it use to be the case that entries were made for the Guineas and Derby at the start of the juvenile season?

If it has changed, when are the entries for the Guineas and Dery now released?

Thought you could enter for the Derby as a foal? ( There was an offspring by certain stallion entered a unnamed entry which is now a 4 year old who hasn't run yet)

The first Derby entry stage is now late November/December time when horses are still yearlings. Think the Guineas entries are about February of the 3yo season.

It's a long way away from the traditional foal entry (only) for all 5 English Classics, which G-G describes.

Think it did change slightly with Covid and knowing the BHA it will all change again.

Well it did change, and the BHA have dispensed with the recent yearling entry stage and Derby entries will now be made early in year of the race.
