Hail! Hail!

The sun is shining here :D The dogs & cats are sun bathing in the garden while the older girls are planning a bike ride. Might have a barbeque later if we don't get your hail.

Brilliant weather here in the Bronx......it may just be the lull before the storm....???it's forecast as rain later and tomorrow and Monday so nothing new I don't suppose, as it's bank holiday weather.....

My sons dog is enjoying destroying my garden at this moment in time (dog sitting (I said sitting :P ) again............

Muggy and overcast today, with a little shower. The weather forecast showed torrents of rain for dahn sarf tomorrow - ah, happy day at Fontwell. Squish, squelch, squidge...

Typical, I was planning on staying in a caravan for the weekend, back to the Ritz then. Oh well.

Tetley, caravanning or motorhoming in the rain is a must for anyone with a sense of adventure and humour. Muddy boots, wet dogs, and drenched clothes! I love it.... :luv:

All is sweetness and light down here as it's pouring down and I've been soaked twice but it matters not, as silaging kicked off on Thursday and the pit was sheeted down by 10.30pm last night... :)

Now just about a hundred and fifty acres of hay to make end of next month, maize harvest in September and our horses and cattle can eat their heads off next winter!!

Well, you deserve it after the 364 days of miserable weather you get up there near the North Pole! Tanked down at Fontwell and Sussexes East and West today: I sold over 50 umbrellas and even some remaining XXL fleece jackets to shivering, desperate people who were probably no more than an M or L at most! I was so surprised by the amount of people who seem to have either ignored the weather warning for today, or who were over-optimistic about things 'clearing up'.

Sorry, I didn't see you today, Krizon. :shy: I found a nice corner seat in the O&T's and that lovely Ian kept me topped up with lovely coffee and as Brendan Powell says, the best chips in Britain. :D

Where were you hidden today?

Another job in another place - flogging off merchandise in the green marquee on the 'lawns' by the parade ring, Kathy. Unfortunately, it faced away from the ring so I didn't see a horse until I'd packed up and went to greet the 1-2-3 of the last. It was fairly impossible to 'see' anyone because of the sea of umbrellas and rain hoods, anyway. I think I might've done a record trade - I sold so many brollies I lost track! Wretched weather, but the horses seemed to appreciate it. Hope Bren's horses are all back okay.

Possibly not the best afternoon's racing he has had but given the conditions just relieved they all came back safe and sound, including the remarkable Colonel Frank. Some trainers just have their favourite horses and Colonel Frank is one of his. He was with us in the O&T some of the time, but was too nervous to watch CF's race so went off to the weighing room to watch it. He was like an expectant mother with a child having his first day at school. :brows: Frank has had a few major setbacks that were possibly career threatening at times, BUT he was back on ground that was not ideal but he so desperately needed that run. He is so high in the handicap over the fences it is difficult to find a race for him but I think Brendan will persevere as long as Colonel is still in love with the game and remains fit and healthy. He made a couple of blunders yesterday but having been away from the track for over 800 days, that is hardly surprising.

The West Indies won't know what has hit them. If Plunkett and Sidebottom weren't already perplexing them enough with good old fashioned English swing bowling, they've just left the field of play......................... in the middle of a hailstorm !!
