I plan to take in Tuesday's (awful) card at Hamilton.

If any of youz local punters intend going, we can say hello.

Expect the going to be softer than current reports. No shortage of rain up here in the last 18 hours.

Highlight of the card was Mark Johnston's explanation to the stewards of the improved performance of Overstep in winning the first. They received a report from the trainer "stating that he could not say that there had been an improvement in form as it was a small field and the favourite may have ran below his form."

Timeform's initial figures suggest an improvement of no less than 60 lbs!!!

Provisional Timeform rating of 27p. Using Overstep as my yardstick.

27p is all the form is worth...

I actually backed Galician in the 'big' race but managed to lose money on the day.

It was a real non-triers' convention, though, but what else do you expect from Class 5 and 6 races?

I met a couple of pals and when the 1/5f got beat in the first I heard echoes of a bookmaking acquaintance whom I met there over 20 years ago and who commented on the defeat of a hotpot, "We can get anything beat at Hamilton."
