I had a ginger rat, called, "Ginge" and we use to do the same thing, Trudi. We would stand up by the road and when people use to stop for a chat, his little nose and whiskers would appear and frighten some people half to death. I think some of the older generation thought I was a little weird from an early age. It was certainly a conversation stopper!!!
