BTW: the exact phrase "Happy Birthday" doesn't make any sense in some languages, then the translation means something similar to "best wishes".

xxx have a nice day JON Merlin the Magician :D

Thanks very much indeed, dear forum chums. I've just realized I can travel half-price on the buses (I actually USED one a couple of days ago - first time in decades - and it was fun!), and get my prescrips free. Wunnerful! I had a good time working at Lingers, but no winners. My colleagues and I were a bit too busy for one of us to nip out incognito and bung on our high-rollin' £2 e/w! Last meeting we managed to lose our £6 bet, from which we still smart.

Special notes of thanks to Stodge for the fizz (which will go down with lunch tomorrow) and to Kathy for the fabulous bouquet of flowers and giant balloon! Very, very kind of both of you to be so thoughtful.

The doglet is due to visit shortly and I'm preparing her incontinence pants. Come to think of it, now I'm 80, I'll probably want to prepare a few for myself....

Thanks again, forum friends! :D

Um, does that mean I should have horrible days in between, TS?

Mmmm... yummy, thanks Brian, that looks delish. :P

G'day Bar! Thanks, I spent the day working at Lingfield, but it was good fun, and had a pleasant evening courtesy of some bottles of plonk a pal brought round. How are you doing out there in beautiful Oz? Have I missed some updates on your life while I was pc-less? Are you coming back to Blighty in 2005 or is this IT, you've gone bush and we won't see you back here again? Been to any Oz courses? Hope you're fit, fine, and happy, BTB.

I haven't logged in much recently, Jon. I haven't been working, so I haven't had much PC-access.

I am in Melbourne at the moment, working on a three-month contract, so I should stick my head in the door a bit more frequently.

I will be back in the UK (or Ireland) around July next year. I'm travelling back with the missus to Europe through Indonesia, Philippines, China, Mongolia and Russia. Trans-Siberian.

I went to Flemington for the Melbourne Cup. The weather wasn't great and the course isn't set up with many sheltered enclosures, so it was a bit of a damp squib.

Not a patch on standing on the shadow of Cleeve Hill on a nippy November's evening, watching the sun set and supping a pint of stout.
