Well it is the start of Christmas week....

Hope all forum members of Talkinghorses have a happy and peaceful Christmas. Tricky time of year for some, but hope everyone gets to enjoy it and at the very least back a few winners!

Happy Christmas and thanks for your assistance during the year.

I learn tonight that the Queen is reserving a special Christmas greeting for those of us who're being hammered by the credit crunch. Isn't that nice of her? she's so thoughtful and considerate isn't she?

Well call me cynical, but I can't help wondering if this attempt to connect with the population who are suffering doesn't have its roots in 1992? For those too young to remember, the country was in the grips of the last recession and all the Queen could do on Christmas day was bleat to the nation about her own "annus horriblus" based loosely around the fact that one of her castles had caught fire, and that her daughter in law had been splashed across the Daily Mirror receiving 'financial advice' from John Bryant. Poor queenie it must have been a terrible year for you!!! Suffice to say she got a mullering in the media for being self-pitying and out of touch, and the Palace were shaken by the negative fallout and hostility she generated. She's had to wait a full 17 years to rectify it, so I'm afraid I'm just a tad cynical about her intentions with this one. I think AC's christmas message is probably nearer to what alot of us are thinking.

I'm slightly surprised we haven't heard from Clive yet lambasting Channel 4 for the subject of their alternative christmas address;)

No Mine is the unofficial one.
