JACKSON LATE FOR COURT
Michael Jackson has forfeited $3m bail money for being late for court in Santa Maria, California.
A warrant was issued for his arrest when the superstar failed to arrive for proceedings to begin on time for day nine of his trial.
He was given one hour to get to court after his lawyer, Thomas Mesereau, said he was in hospital with a "serious back problem".
Arriving at court three minutes after the warrant came into effect, a frail-looking Jackson was wearing a black suit jacket over a white t-shirt and what looked like blue pyjama bottoms.
His hair had not been combed and he was walking very slowly while being held up by his bodyguards and his father.
Judge Rodney Melville now has the option to hold Jackson in custody for the remained of the child abuse trial.
The judge told the court of the warrant moments after proceedings should have begun on the second day of evidence from accuser Gavin Arvizo, 15.
Mr Mesereau spent an hour standing outside the court making repeated calls on his mobile phone.
It is the second time the superstar has not been at court. The first time he was treated in hospital for flu-like symptoms.
