Can any one give me a step by step guidance on how to calculate speed figures, including how to come up with an accurate going allowance.
And I really do mean like step 1, step 2 ect.

there isn't really a step by step guide to calculating the all important going allowance. its judgement based on probably 3 different methods as a cross check..thats how i do it.
I'm not going to layout how i do mine ...but i am glad to go through a few cards with you using a basic method
do you want to take weight into account?..or use a race par...race pars are better for someone just starting out
I would suggest using Racing Post standard times as a start point..if you want to do that i can set pars to those so that you get a fair reflection of the going
Or you could read Warbler's 29-page (introductory) treatise on the subject.
(Warning tho', ossification might well be a consequence of doing so -- there is documented evidence of mummified corpses found sat at their desktops who have croaked whilst trying to fathom his dissertation).
If you can lay hands on a copy, Nick Mordin gives a very good guide to his own particular method in Mordin on Time (suggest you get the Revised edition), along with a whole host of other information on how to trim/adapt the basic information obtained. I have been using his basic method since he first published it in Betting For A Living and find that it gives very good guidance to a horse's class and capabilities.
Thanks Guys I have put to use the Matt Bisogno method on the youtube video for AW racing, having put a version of the method on excel and have started to make figures will see how goes.
