A MEMBER of Nicky Henderson's staff who was on Thursday night anxious to remain anonymous is understood to have become a millionaire thanks to an accumulator featuring five of the trainer's six Cheltenham Festival winners.

What is believed to have been a £50 bet at antepost prices was placed with bet365 in November.

The winning horses were Sprinter Sacre (Racing Post Arkle Chase), Simonsig (Neptune Investment Novices' Hurdle), Bobs Worth (RSA Chase), Finian's Rainbow (Queen Mother Champion Chase) and Riverside Theatre (Ryanair Chase).

Bookmakers are normallykeen to trumpet when a client enjoys a massive pay-out but bet365 were unwilling to discuss the details of the win when contacted by the Racing Post.

Spokesman Pat Cooney said: "It was a horrible day for us as bookmakers, we lost on every single race, and while we are pleased for customers who had a good day, it is company policy not to discuss individual accounts."

This is the second major gamble to have been landed at the festival this week with Phil Williams, owner of the Donald McCain-trained Son Of Flicka, reputed to have collected £900,000 when his horse won the Coral Cup on Wednesday.

The lad who's 'anxious to remain anonymous' is called Conor Murphy and is deputy head-lad.

Yeah but don't tell anyone

Just apoint of interest

I once asked TFR what would happen if you had a 5 horse accie. The first 4 won and you broke the limit because a couple had drifted unexpectedly, would that mean you could have a million quid going on to the last leg to win nothing and if it got beat you would get nothing?

Anyome know if the bookies have a ruling on when a limit is reached?

If he wanted to remain anonymous he shouldn't have been celebrating quite so wildly when Riverside Theatre won.:)

Was he the lad in the suit jumping up and down!! Jasus, a million quid. For anyone that's a lot, but for someone working in a yard where the top earners (below the trainer) surely don't make that much, this will be massive. Well done to him. It was a very speculative acca. There was no guarantee Riversaide Theatre would even get there!!

He Knew

No one would have thought Bobs Worth could win though, not even the trainer.

Maybe he's an excellent judge in a fortunate environment.

How many of us would land a £1m accumulator if we worked within a big yard day in day out?

Not many.

I should think the proof that it wasnt me was that I picked the wrong race for Simonsig in our competition on here !!!!

annoyingly they have reported it wrong and made everyone think that its my sort of OH who won it, rather than who did, he rides Finnys every day, doesnt "do" him. :)

It was him - the blonde lad who does riverside (and binocular) is called robin - Connor is the guy who picked robin up and ran up the horse walk with him, arms waving and going incredibly mental.. They are all out tonight, think its already messy.....

Ya thats him. Thought people were mistaking connor for being the blonde guy. Connor's from Eniskeen in west Cork. Lovely people.

No suprise it's messy. More power to him.

If you want to meet nice people from Cork there are two lads on the forum open to offers. Delighted for you Trudi, you've been putting me into Finians all season butI blame you personally for not finding out what race Simonsig would run in.

If I'm there too....

I asked did he know where simonsig was going before I made the choice for this comp - he didn't know. Do you really think I'd have gone for the supreme if I knew for certain simonsig was off to the Neptune??!!!!

361 days to go... :)

i said at the time they must have had a few quid on the way h threw robin over his shoulder and ran up the horsewalk.....slightly more than a few lucky get!!!!! sounds like its very much well deserved though

The report I read said the prices were:

Sprinter Sacre 10/1
Simonsig 14/1
Bobs Worth 10/1
Finians Rainbow 8/1
Riverside Theatre 9/1

What was he thinking of, putting £50 on the accumulator. Those odds come to 163,349/1. If the payout limit was £1m (as opposed to 1,000,000/1) then a £6 stake would have taken him very close to the limit.

He effectively threw away £44...
