Perfect option would be to use hibernate/sleep mode if it has got one - this will save a lot of power, but will mean that it will awaken in just seconds. Look for a button that looks like a half-moon.


Not that many years ago it was ill-advised to power-off/power-on PCs repeatedly as it could shorten component-life. I am not sure that is really an issue these days as manufacturing standards have increased.


I suppose it really boils down to if you have the patience to wait for it to boot up every time you need it. Personally I leave mine on for days...
