If Freeview can broadcast 100 channels to a digibox and a normal house aerial, why can't Sky do likewise? Is it technically impossible for them to gather the signals centrally and send them the same way Fv does?

I wouldn't mind being selective about certain Sky channels, but I'm very much against having a dish spoil the look of the hovel.

Is a normal house aerial significantly less unattractive than a minidish?

Also a minidish can be hidden in the garden, or alternatively painted to camoflage against the house.

To answer your question. I guess they could, but would they want to?

There's a limit as to what freeview will be able to broadcast (the reason they're changing to digital is because they can squeeze more in to the available bandwidth) so they'd have to cut back on their broadcasts to make way for sky. Dishes and ariels will soon no longer be required once the tv-on-demand (via broadband) show hits the road soon. Did anyone see that documentary on broadband where they showed how it's done in France now. Their services showed BT and co up for the w@nkers they are.

That will be more attractive then :)

It isn't unheard of to place Sat dishes in lofts as well, success varies depending on roofing material and dish size. I doubt the standard minidish would work too well unless you have a skylight but an independent installer would be able to advise better than me.
