Frankel has been the star of the meeting but his performance in the Steward worths a mention,
he posted a very high figure and emerges as the ony danger for Dream Ahead in coming weeks.

Reminded me of Roman Warrior ! Lumping a massive weight to win the Ayr Gold Cup .

Or perhaps Lochnager .

Loved this horse when I saw him in the paddock (on telly !) and was very pleased to see Monsuir Bond getting another lovely type. Shame hes so bloody far away!!

The trainer believes that this horse is better than Lochnagar so he must be a bit special and he does look a brute of a horse.
Hopefully we will see him around for a few more seasons.

Could easily see his OR ending up around the 120 mark after that. Must be one of the best handicap performances in years? Certainly good enough to be competitive in the Group 1s.

Apparently connections intend to supplement for the Nunthorpe or the Nunthrope as the RP has it in its website headline (Nunthrope run is on for Hoof It)

Ridiculous price for the Nunthorpe. Are we seriously to believe that his run on Saturday was better than Bated Breath's in the July Cup (an effort that would have won most editions in the last decade)???

Thank God they got that name right - if I see 'baited breath' once more, I'm likely to throw things at it.

Totally agree.

I'm keeping an eye on the weather too, if the long term forecasts suggest a wet August, I'd be getting stuck into our beloved Overdose at 12s.

How do you rate the performances side by side?

Timeform Ratings
Bated Breath 126
Hoof It 128+

BHA ratings
Bated Breath 118
Hoof It 119

I don't have access to RPR's.

You couldn’t but be impressed with Hoof It’s performance in the Stewards Cup. He truly did look like a Group horse in Handicap company. He should probably be favourite on a pure reading of ability/form… However, Group 1 races are inevitably decided by those best prepared/laid out for the race. Taking it in as an afterthought could be against him. He is being catapulted in class and has to take on specialists. This could go to one of a handful and Hoof It looks too short for my liking.

Over 5f, Hoof it would beat Bated Breath relatively comfortably.

BB pulled slightly early doors in the July Cup. He looks like he might improve for the drop down in trip. Not saying Hoof It isn't a huge danger but how Sole Power and a 2yo are shorter in the market is beyond me.

Sole Power's record in Group 1's on Flat tracks is 11. he's fully entitled to be towards the head of the betting I think.

Wrong here. Was thinking the Temple was a Group 1 but it isn't. Still think Sole Power deserves to be a shorter price than Bated Breath.
