With the packed fixture list in today's Racing Calander are racecourses liable for ensuring that Horses should be transported over longer intervals and regular breaks?
Studies have shown that horse posture effecting joints, dangerous levels of heart rate and inhabition in feeding has been a result of long journey's as well as shorter journey's.
Should there be more regulatory control over the welfare of horses in transport?
To me it looks as if there is a rush to get your horses out racing with the packed fixture list, get them there and race within 24 hours.
Maybe we should look at racecourses housing weekly entries a week before fixtures go ahead so that they can climatise properly especially those who engage in long journeys
