Recently, when replying to emails, I can only see the top half of the line of text I'm writing.

Any ideas what's going wrong?

Anyone?

Another difficulty I'm having is that now when writing emails the page, widthwise, seems to go on forever, a bit like 'notebook'. This never used to happen. The text always remained confined to the visible on-screen text box.

Any ideas on how to solve that one?

shrug:: shrug::

Right click your desktop then choose properties you are then in display properties,
check your settings.. my pesonal one is 1024x 768 pixels yours may differ use the slideing option to choose your desired pixel size...

if this fails to cure it go to troubleshoot on the display properties and use this process to correct any faults you have...........

Thanks, Merlin but all my other settings are fine so I didn't want to mess with them.

I experimented a wee bit in hotmail and think I've solved the problem.

There was a 'show plain text' link which I clicked and that seemed to do the trick. The link then read 'show rich text' so somewhere along the line someone must have switched to rich text.

Everything seems back to normal now including getting the right page layout when replying to emails.

Spoke too soon.

Everything's OK apart from the width of the page when replying.

I can't be @rsed scrolling across and back to check what I've written. Does anyone recommend any other free email service?

(I joined g-mail and promptly forgot my login details.)

I use Yahoo, unlimited storage and a pretty good spam filter (although the spam in my inbox is creeping up slightly). Never had any issues with it though
