Late season two year old maidens & novice contests at Newmarket are usually races full of promise, with often a number of future winners lurking within. I Am I Said caused a fair shock when obliging in such a race, taking a one mile novices race in soft conditions in late October – beating another of the fifty, the Gosden trained Byblos by a comfortable looking four and a quarter lengths, with a further length and a quarter back to the Appleby trained odds on favourite Present Times. You couldn’t fail to be impressed by the performance, and I Am I Said will have went into many notebooks as one to follow for 2025. At the time of writing odds of 50/1 are available for the Epsom Derby, and while that may seem a little premature – it would be no surprise to see him develop into a pattern class performer. I would be fairly confident that he’d stay a mile and a quarter, but only time will tell if he has the stamina to contest the colts classic.

One or two Almanzor's have done well at higher level and at 12f to 2 miles in Australia and France ( I think). In general, though, the numbers suggest they're more likely (if they have anything) to show up at listed/Class 2 levels. Given this one's with Beckett, it may well be possible he has a proper tool.
