I have been taking racing photos since about 1986. For the last 3 years I have been absolutely committed to getting a certain photo of a certain person. Finally at last, at Punchestown I cracked it. I would like to share my photo with you all. Please make sure you are sitting down and for those of a fragile nature look away now!!!!!

At last a smiling A.P.McCoy. I suppose 3 years isn't too long to wait.

Could someone tell me why , hmm this could be a little personal, but I would like to know why his helmet is bigger than everyone else's?

Diminuendo,

I hate to disappoint you but he's not smiling......

I think he is passing wind!!!

Maybe he has caught sight of something? He is looking down at Frank Berrys  er something and JP looks like he is about to get his wallet out. Is that why he is smiling?

Come on I still wanna know why McCoy has got the biggest BMX helmet in the world!!!

Well Dim,

You must have heard the saying....

"If you are gonna have one.. have a biggun"

Perhaps that applies to helmets (oooo-eerrrr) as well. :)

Okay, I suppose I'd better spill the beans before the News of the World does... Antonio's helmet contains a two-way communications system, which Pipey had installed some years ago. This is how they maintained the dual championships for so long. Pipe used to tell Tony where the various runners were, who'd fallen, UR, PU, RO, and all the rest of it, so Tony knew where to take a breather or where to push on. When you see Tony looking serious, he's actually talking to Pipey without moving his lips too much, which might've given the game away.

Right, I've gone and done it now, and expect the JC Security Dept. to burst through my door, writs at the ready, imminently. If I'm shortly off-forum, you'll know why...

Well I still can't see anything....not that I am desperate for viewings of AP, but just wondered why it appears not to be working.

His skull cap is actually regulation size it s just that some jump jockey have the chin strap padded around the ears to offer more protection.
