My daughter thinks she is paying too much tax.

From memory, I believe there may be a member or two who have expertise in this subject.

Rather than discuss it on here I would be grateful if someone could contact me by PM.

Colin, that would indicate she is paying tax at the Basic Rate on her earnings. If she has only the one source of income then she will be paying far too much tax. Feel free to PM me for any further advice.

Is she right in thinking that she should have at least a personal allowance?

She has spoken to someone and they are going to send her a P46 to fill in. (she has been working for the last three years in the Falkland Islands and hasn't got a P45).
 
Yes, she would be entitled to her personal allowances. Completing the P46 is the correct first step in sorting the matter. It can take time, though, arrears are pretty bad, now that I`ve retired :D
