A program worth watching if you have any interest in racing. A team dissects a racehorse, it's not too gory, to examine how its anatomy works and traces the thoroughbred from the days of Eclipse. A short trailer I have seen reveals a horse uses as much oxygen in a four minute race as a human being does in twenty four hours and passes enough blood through its heart to fill the tanks of five Volkswagen Golfs.

Channel4 Tuesday 8pm.

Yes, saw the trailer for that and the CGI locomotion looked awful. George Stubbs was the great anatomising painter of horses, which is why his muscle groups are in the right place and the action (locomotion) is correct, since he knew exactly which tendons and ligaments did what work. I wonder who the dear departed was? One of those in our 'Retirements' list, perhaps?

LOL, that was one of my first thoughts Kri - which horse is it.... !!!

looks like it should be very interesting, got it on to record cos im bound to forget !!

There is going to be a re- showing of "Inside Nature's Giants: Racehorse" on Channel 4 in the early hours of Thursday/Friday morning 12/13 September ..........at 02.40!
It is a scientific explanation by a vet of the extraordinary biology of the racehorse. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth it .
