Irish 2000 Guineas

A cracking renewal. Let's hope they've sorted out some of the off track issues for what should be a decent crowd.

fantastic ride by Jamie there.
The way he settled the horse on a long rein and allowed him use his stride was a thing of beauty.
Great run by Decrypt also but Ballydoyle must be head scratching tonight.

I reckon they'll be headscratching how to get Decrypt beaten next month, Edgt. He is the one to beat if connections want to go there with him.

I agree with your praise of Jamie Spencer today.

Superb ride by Jamie. Refused to be intimidated by the two market leaders and smashed them. FWIW I think this horse has really matured this year. A big framed horse, he was entitled to improve.
TDH possibly has had others catch up with him or the Dante took more out of him.
MG has to be the disappointment. Or perhaps the draw bias in the Guineas made him out to be much better than he is. (My opinion but then I’m still in the Ten Sovereigns camp!)
I hope that Ballydoyle haven’t hit a blip coming into the a Derby though. And I wish they’d hurry up and supplement Sir D to put my mind at rest.

I'm not sure how you can be so sure of that. For his first Group One attempt, Decrypt has run an absolute stormer. He was the biggest eyecatcher in todays race. He can improve again.

The winner is a very good horse, but I feel Decrypt could be something very special.

Not a Group 1 miler -would be better off running in the Jersey.

After just finishing third in his first Group One?

Madness.

His only other entry is in the Ballychorus at Leopardstown over 7F which is a Group Three.

Looking at what got beat yesterday, plus the fact a quick look at the winners form, which tells us Phoenix Of Spain is far from unbeatable.

Connections must go for the St James Palace.

Made ground up when race was done. Nice horse for a less fashionable trainer. The race was the half furlong when Too Darn Hot attacked Magna Grecia only to find the winner showing more pace and class than both. Decrypt not good enough to get involved in that and after the battle was over he came through to pick up the pieces. Nice horse. Maybe suited by longer straights than Ascot as looking to have lacked pace at crucial time yesterday. Not sure what it being his first group 1 has to do with it. Winner likely to come on again for his first run of season.

I can't wait for Royal Ascot.
Some guys gonna eat humble pie.

Hopefully the lads can get their mates in the bookmaking profession, notably Ladbrokes, Victor Chandlier, 'Betbright' and the rest, to offer 500/1 on race day.

That would be quite some offering. :)

Marble -there is a big difference between running a decent race and being something special. There are so many decent Group 2&3 races for him in Ireland there is no need to tear the guts out of him in the SJP.He has a chance in the Jersey but would be far from a certainty.

He was cruising like a horse who both would improve for the run and benefit for the better gallop at Ascot.

Remember it's already Marble 1 Hawk Wing 0, with Forest Bihan placing in the first four at Cheltenham.

Anyway...I hear Decrypt's trainer is based in Tipperary, a bit further up from Offaly.

There is nothing stopping the lads from giving him their best advice.

Which I am sure will be to swerve Royal Ascot. :)

Marble you are throwing darts here -Decrypt debuted at this meeting 12 months ago,he beat Lady Kaya when he won his maiden and he had a previous run this season -he already had a decent level of form and his trainer knows the time of day so there is no way he lacked for fitness yesterday -where is the magic improvement to make him a superstar coming from.

He lost yesterday's battle, but he'll win the war at Ascot.

I'm sure the trainer is no bottler.

He is like one of the hottest cars New York has ever seen.

He will be in top gear for his next run.

I'm not sure what else will.

I think a few including Magna Grecia, will need a nap at the petrol station.

Some horses have their days in the sun and yesterday's was Phoenix Of Spain's.

Others lurk, improve gradually and prove better over the longer period.

That's vauge Marble -I would say the priority with the horse is to win a Group 2 or 3 before a big money sale to America,Hong Kong or possibly Godolhin /Al Shaqab.
