Has anyone else heard that Mr Derek O'Connor will not be riding any more of John Kiely's horses?
 
want to bet an even fifty grand that your information is correct geariod? doubt it,

i will lay you 1,000/1 that what you have relayed is incorrect.
 
She Isa Delight runs today ridden Mr R P McNamara. The ride on the this horse last time out was the supposed cause of the break between the pair.

She Isa Delight could go well against the penalised runners. The sister to O'Muircheartaigh was set a virtually impossible task due to the manner in which she was ridden from a long way off the pace on her debut at Punchestown last month, and she stayed on to good effect to take fourth place

gearoid did you notice the riding arrangements for the 5th in this race yesterday?
 
I did Larry, though I also noticed it was the first time in over a month that John Kiely has jocked up Derek O'Connor.

I posted the below on another thread but as you are, again, taking the ***** out of Gearoid through the art of copy and pasting, I feel obliged to repost something that you escaped from having brought up at the time...

I am well aware that you are clearly a knowledgeable member of the horse racing scene with a certain amount of inside information and when you post I would generally take ten times more notice than most people in these parts.

The only thing that bothers me is that you have a way of being dismissive which has an all seeing, all knowing manner where sometimes there is no substance behind it. The problem with this, of course, is that it means you are a knowledgeable insider within the horse racing scene whose opinions are heavily coloured by those who give you the time of the day rather than having a general awareness of the scene.

Therefore, while veering into the subject of 'complete claptrap' can you please tell me which forum member posted valuable insights in February such as:



Uncle has hit the nail in his summary of Sublimity, no earthly chance.
If this was a race containing a red hot favoutite like Istabraq in his heyday then one could relate to punters trying to find a big priced outsider with the prospects of making a speculate return on the place element of an each way bet.

The 2007 Champion Hurdle is the hottest two mile championship hurdle in many years with at last count six maybe seven runners rated over 160.

And suddenly we find scores of people tipping up a 138 rated hurdler. Sublimity has not finished in the first three in a graded hurdle and the Irish handicapper Noel O Brien was obviously not impressed by his Navan win as he made no change to his 138 mark.
Without wishing to go into detail on Sublimity's problems let me say that he has as much chance of winning the champion hurdle as Ballycassidy has of winning the gold cup.

If you offered me 20/1 about Sublimity finishing in the first three I would refuse the bet as I know I would be shredding my money.

I am happy to take on board the reasoned debate of the various Detroit City, Brave Inca, Macs Joy, Straw Bear and Harchibald fans, lets drop the Sublimity joke please.

i would add that sublimity would not finish in the first six in the county hurdle even if he was carrying less than eleven stone.

My point initially on this thread was that the rumour was totally false, end of.

To bobbyjo,
I took the view that Sublimity was well short of Champion Hurdle class. No horse with a pre race official rating lower than 140 had won a champion hurdle in living memory. The form was not there in the book. Those supporting him had a flimsy case with reference to the actual form. He won and those that backed him will feel vindicated in their judgement.

Unlike many who will crow about their big wins, I can relate that I lost a six figure betting bank on the exchange due to the win of Sublimity. I backed my view with conviction and paid the price. My decision, and I would do it again given the same circumstances. Last saturday I got a percentage of those losses back at Cheltenham.

I still rate him alongside Hors La Loi as the poorest champion hurdle winner I have seen in watching over 40 years of the race.

Last month I contacted the odds compilers with four different bookmakers firms, two Irish, two in England and asked would they be willing to give me a price on Sublimity not winning a Grade 1 hurdle in the current season. Three expressed no interest in this novelty bet as they say it, the 4th would not offer me a price on what i sought, instead he offered 2/5 that sublimity would win a Grade 1.

So if anyone out there is interested, I am willing to have 20 grand on Sublimity Not winning a Grade 1 this current season, provided you offer me odds of 5/2. After all you will get at least 4 bites at the cherry and this ought to be money for old rope if you think he is a star and you can silence doubters like me who think his victory was a freak result.
 
Do you reckon it was merely a coincidence that D O'C didn't ride any of Kiely's horses for more than a month then happyaslarry?

Not saying he's a star...just saying that the dismissal of him pre-CH was outrageous and particularly insulting. In fairness, Ruby Walsh said something very similar to your County Hurdle comment and was made look ridiculous

As a matter of interest...what four Grade 1's do you think Sublimity will run in from now til end of season...AIG/Cheltenham....after that???? Maybe Punchestown but can't see him running in four at all??
