Anyone else seen this new trainer appear on racecards?

Seems to be from the UAE training mainly Godolphin cast offs for the CEO of the Dubai Racing Club, Saeed Altayer.

After John Ferguson over jumps, wonder if this is another way of very well bred horses trying to make it pay at a lesser level for which they were bred for.

Dubaian Ismail Mohammed will join the ever-growing list of trainers in the town after agreeing to rent Revida Place, in Hamilton Road.

The 40-box yard has been vacant since December after former tenant David Lanigan, who had been based at the yard since 2007, decided to up sticks and move to Kingsdown Stables in Lambourn.

Mohammed, who currently trains in Dubai, will become the third Dubaian trainer to be based in the town, following in the footsteps of Saeed Bin Suroor and Mahmood Al Zarooni, both of whom train for Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin operation.

In 2007 Mohammed topped the trainer standings of that year’s Dubai carnival after sending out 16 winners.

Among his big race successes were Folk’s victories in both the UAE 1,000 Guineas and Oaks, achieved in the colours of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, along with Eu Tambem’s win in round three of the Maktoum Challenge.

I'm probably doing the trainer a disservice but I recall at the back of my mind him being involved in a failed drug test on one of Sheik Mohammed's horses a few years ago. I'm probably wrong and apologise if this is the case - can anyone enlighten me?

Think it was Mubarak bin Shafiya who was the Godolphin trainer involved in the failed drug test, which was on a horse or horses involved in endurance racing.

Thanks Rory, I wasn't sure to be honest.

By the way I was listening to time form radio the other day and you made a comment about Watered Silk likely to attempt to make all the running and with the Tregonning team in such good form I couldn't resist a bet - Cheers

You're very welcome (he said on behalf of Jamie Lynch, who actually gave that one out)!
