Snowing heavily in South Wales at the moment. :teeth:

And I'm with Brian here, as a racing fan and with the Hennessy tomorrow, why would you want snow??????

A brief splattering of snow here last night. I only noticed it when I went to let two of the cats in before bed. I don't know what surprised me more, the snow or the great big fox sat in my front garden!

A sudden, sharp burst of sleet in Brighton. It's very bright and sunny and bloody cold right now. May well have snaed on the Downs.

Cue half the forum on horseback, churning up Griffin's garden in pursuit of said fox, and the other half of the forum in hot pursuit of those on horseback, waving placards and threatening fire and brimstone .. :D

I want it to snow heavily Sunday night. I wonder why...
 to be able to play snowball fights with your pupils??? :P surely its not for you to bung off!! :D again??

about 1" here in the bronx...............

Cue Krizon putting out large dollops of grub for the fox... and sitting up half the night to see him/her eat it. I miss my Staffordshire foxies, who used to cut across the front lawn at 1.00 a.m. regular as clockwork, on their way to the back garden for the nosh. :)

I couldn't leave food out as my cats would have it all away before the fox  Foxy didn't look malnourished at all and was last seen heading off in the direction of the old folks home at the top of the road.

Hopefully it will come soon.

Why would you want snow to arrive? [/b][/quote]
So we can all go sledging down the hills (come Sunday afternoon obviously).

Any discount Brian ?

Cornwall is at a standstill, there is a 30 mile queue between Bideford and Camelford , there are hundreds trapped in their cars on Bodmin Moor between Launceston and Bodmin, the military and police are out trying to rescue them.
I live about five minutes by car from work, I have left the car there and it has taken over an hour to walk under a mile home. Have not seen it this bad since 1963.

Motorists stranded after blizzards

Plunging temperatures and blizzards brought chaos to much of Britain, stranding motorists and forcing schools to close.

Police and the military were battling through snow to help more than 100 vehicles - including coaches - which had ground to a halt on Cornwall's Bodmin Moor.

Residents say over 5 inches have fallen in the area, and the trapped drivers are being urged to stay put on the A30 until assistance arrives.

There were 6-mile tailbacks on the A30 westbound and gritters and snowploughs were at the scene but it was proving very difficult to get traffic moving again, Devon and Cornwall police said.

Meanwhile police forces in the worst-hit parts of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and South West England reported a spate of weather-related rescues and crashes on treacherous roads, despite gritters working flat out overnight.

A South Wales Police spokesman said conditions had been particularly bad in the valleys and a 50mph speed limit was placed on the M4.

Lorry drivers were advised to avoid the Rhondda area as some roads were impassable due to thick snow and some smaller roads were closed.

A South Wales Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said the force was dealing with several road accidents caused by the bitter weather.

In South West England, snow caused accidents and numerous road blockages, as well as a couple of trees down, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

School buses were cancelled in north Devon due to the weather, while a number of schools were closed in Wales.

Merlin, in 5 years we have never had a day off for snow here so please ddon't use the word "again". Equally, if the school is closed, it hardly counts as bunking off. I would like to think I am more professional than bunking off.

It took me three hours to get home tonight and I reckon I could comfortably have added an hour to that if I'd taken my normal route. Fortunately I know a few rat-runs for just this kind of occasion.
