He will ride Kingman on Saturday and all the UK based Abdulla horses from Sep1 .

A clear verdict on Queally I should have thought . He will undoubtedly be the biggest loser - though Moore and Buick will lose out too .

Fully justified, a fantastic jockey and a nice lad too.

Buick and Queally will be narked but they are both still at two of the top yards in the country.

Depends on the degree of scaling back - Hughes in his autobiography described it as a very hard job to manage as KA had so many horses.

Two things strike me re Warren Place - on one hand KA may have been keen to retain a jockey before now but did not want to upset HRAC or it might mean that Lady Cecil does not mean to continue ?

Given Abdullah is scaling back his interests, this is like signing for Portsmouth in 2010.

He's not scaling them back as much as was first thought. Grimthorpe has clarified in the past few days that it's a "consolidation - nothing more" or words to that effect. It's a big job still and congratulations to James Doyle. He won on a horse I had a quarter-share in at Beckhampton and he's a thoroughly nice lad as well as a good jockey.

Surprising news, especially with Abdullah reducing numbers and especially with how things were working as they were.

J. Doyle has scope and is a good jockey but Ryan Moore with stuotes and Buick with Gosdens are better jockeys than him and even when they were on other stable horses Abdullah had quite easy to use Doyle.

Unusual move for such a smart organization.

Given the yards that Abdullah uses with any notable success, obviously excluding the likes of Perrett/Eddery, all have settled stable jockeys, it does come as a surprising, and unnecessary move. Not sure how Doyle on a regular basis for all is better than Buick, Moore, Queally for their retained stables and Doyle for Charlton on a similar basis to what they have had this season.

Still, will look a dream start in a fortnight when Excess Knowledge wins the Leger.

It is a very different world now where owners want to have their own jockeys yet have horses in stables where the incumbent jockey is just as good if not better - Hughes, Moore and Buick all ride for stables now where major owners have their own jockeys instead.

As for Queally it is a humiliation whatever way you look at it . After Frankel he surely would have expected to be in prime position for such a job.

Any worries J Doyle might have to give up Al Kazeem ride ?
Does the job include French Abdulla horses ?
A great opportunity as Abdulla seems to be one of the easier big owners to ride for; the trainers seem to be tougher to please than the owner if the Hughes episode is anything to go by imo.

Well if Abdulla has a UK based runner he cannot ride Al Kazeem - I assume he considered that a price worth paying .

Queally has sold his soul to William Hill. That god-awful ad makes me cringe especially the piece in the weigh room. I don't think Teddy would appreciate that allegiance. James Doyle has secured himself a sweet retainer fair play to him.

I've heard rumours the latter is the case.

Re: Queally, he's the rudest jockey I've ever met that's ridden a horse I've been involved with.

Buick is losing the rides on the current favourites for the Leger & 2000 Guineas -yet it's a humiliation for Queally.

Yes as Buick has a job with a large operation . The future of the Cecil yard is in some doubt and although Lady Cecil and team have done extremely well with a smaller team since HRAC died - going from first jockey there to Abdulla would have been a promotion - unlike from Gosden to Abdulla.

Queally was also given a ride on one of Abdulla's non Cecil horses in a big race late last year - cannot remember which - that must have suggested post Frankel he would be in prime position . He indeed is much more closely associated with big Abdulla winners over the last 2-3 years than Buick .

Dreadful recent rides on Abdulla horses from Queally - Riposte in the Irish Oaks , Morpheus at Sandown and Hot Snap in the Nassau .

Thanks, gus.

I hadn't read that piece of news.

He rode Special Duty in the Falmouth in 2010 too when Pasquier was banned which was a weird one.

JD rides Morpheus in tomorrow's Silver Cambridgeshire. He has looked fairly average a couple of times this season but tomorrow's course and distance could bring out the best in him.
