The man who was devoted to Henrietta, before switching to Nicholls... Was in a pub in Hollywood by Punchestown with him a couple of years ago?
Is he out of the game now?

The first racehorse owned by his most recent wife (Marcia ?) was one of the two racehorses electrocuted at Newbury in 2011. I think that was more or less the final straw for Jim, especially following the death of Best Mate.

A search on Racing Post reports no data for horses owned whether individually or in any of the three other partnerships he was involved in.

His relationship with Hen wasn't one of mutual admiration despite the exploits of Edredon Bleu (did you know that mean "blue eiderdown" in Fench? Ho, ho, only kidding, big fella) and Best Mate.

On the subject of Lewis' last horse, I believe both he and new wife Jennifer (what first attracted you to dull millionaire Jim Lewis?) Harrison were involved in Marching Song. My understanding is that while Marching Song was clearly a fairly moderate beast, his owners, who also included former champion jockey Graham Thorner, maintain he was the best horse any of them had ever clapped eyes on and refused to accept the insurance settlement they were offered. I believe the dispute is ongoing.

Lewis' only runners under Rules in this country since then were Rivaliste and Like Minded, both owned by different partnerships, but both sold on since, the latter in August. He may still have horses in partnership with Markus Jooste in South Africa. He certainly did a few years ago.

It seemed to go downhill after he insisted Best Mate run at Leopardstown despite the bad ground and the injuries the horse received on the journey over to his head .

He then of course suffered a virus after his visit which might have affected his heart - it certainly was blamed for his bleeding before the 2005 GC and then was mentioned at the time of his death in November .

For the want of somewhere to post this, Pure Oxygen, a half-brother to Best Mate, entered to make debut in Wincanton bumper on Thurs. Trained by Paul Nicholls, owned by Graham Roach.

Jim lays a wreath at the BM statue (bigger than Arkles) before the start on Tuesday. You'd need to be a hard-hearted b*stord to watch that without laughing.

I cant look at the statue at all - I cant decide if its just dreadful, a bit weird or just plain odd the way its been done. That might just finish me off...

I think he is an ok bloke. Bit daft at times but dull? Well didnt he build his business from scratch ? Might bé wrong but i deal and have dealt with quite afew of these people and give me them anytime over "professionals" or public sector "workers"
