But Charlton was out of this world compared to Rooney and it makes me really cross when the two records are compared. Totally different times, totally different rules of the game and the way the game was played, less games back then to play in as two European competition for clubs and if you didn't win trophy at home, you didn't play in Europe. Charlton ten times the player Rooney ever was.
