Shorthand here but Envoi vs Allaho would be the best race of the NH season so far, throw in Fakir. All possible 170+ performers.

The likes of Melon, unexposed Asterion Forlonge, Kemboy (and Grand National winner) for interest.

Some race. Best of the year by a long way.

Super race but I’d expect Fakir to lay down more of a challenge to Envoi Allen than Allaho. I may be mistaken but I don’t think he’s ever won on seasonal reappearance.

Envoi Allen to set the world alight again here.

Only Envoi and Fakir will be fully wound up, you'd have thought.

Its a grade 1. Ye are making excuses for the horse/and the race before it is run. Allaho wound up or not has officially a half a stone and more in hand of other up and comers (11lbs ahead of Envoi). I can't see why the John Durkan is Envoi Allen/Fakir's main aim. If Melon, Kemboy, Asterion Forlonge and Allaho decide to go forward, you could quite the spectacle. It's as good a collection of horses you are likely to see outside of a festival. Whoever finishes third should be able to find a grade 1 for themselves at some stage this year.

It's bound to be the test of tests for Envoi Allen 7/4.

I wouldn't hear of defeat for him last season and ended up with egg on my face but I am sticking with him.

He's the only 2 1/2m plus chaser in training that could end up being a real Superstar IMO.

If he loses here it will be bad for NH racing which is crying out for a top quality 3 mile chaser like Kauto was (well not quite that good)

The fact Clan des Obeaux is currently 3/1 fav for the King George tells just how poor the 3m chasers currently are.

I've read a couple of stable tours and I didn't read anything about The Big Getaway - is he in training this year? I thought he would have been a likely type for this - throw all of Joe Donnelly's at it.

Willie will have one of his fully wound up for this as a gaging stick to see where Envoi is in comparison to some of his. Happy to put a line through Allaho already as silly as it sounds.

Melon will carry my each way money but likely a none betting event for me and a sit back and enjoy

Last years race was a Grade 1 too and look how his season fared

He was mentioned in the Racing Post one. "if we keep him sound he will pay his way".

If its Allaho that you are talking about, its hardly the same situation as last year. 12 months ago he was going into the race a 3m prospect and being prepped for a staying chase campaign, rated third best (behind a stablemate), and plenty to prove in open company. He certainly wasn't being prepped to end up in a 2m at punchestown. It was only after Christmas that they realised he wasn't an albert bartlett, RSA horse after all.

For this weekend, any race where Fakir takes on Envoi Allen, and both are a half stone off the best horse in the race is as good as it gets. Most contenders will have Cheltenham in the back of their mind to one extent or another (probably not Kemboy or Asterion Forlonge) No one is going to ruin their festival by running a huge race here.

There is 15/8 available about Envoi Allen -one of the bets of the season -now is the time to bet like men.

He'd break your heart Luke. A one time future Champion in the making found out well and truly.

He ran like a stayer today and did run on exceptionally well, he certainly couldn't live with the likes of Shishkin over 2 miles

I suppose there a slight chance he could be a Gold Cup contender now?

Ferny Hollow is a real man's bet, there's no Bob Ollingers in this field. I am down 3 figures over the last 2 days I intend to be 3 figures in front after he wins.

He's 1.59 which will do for me

Ferny Hollow went off at 1.71 and TBH I sh** a brick at the 2nd last when he looked beat but Patrick did his thing and won easily in the end........or I would have been joining you but with no balls:lol:

Better days ahead Luke

think Asterion Forlonge would win plenty of big races if he could jump, including that one

The envoi bubble bursting is one of the biggest disappointments that I can remember. For whatever reason, he's not the horse that was there pre-Gordy-photo.

It certainly looks like we were fooled into thinking he was back to his best when he beat a couple of trees at Down Royal
