SILVINIACO CONTI has been awarded the title of the sport's highest-rated jumper following the unveiling of last season's Anglo-Irish classifications.
Victory in the King George VI Chase gave the Paul Nicholls-trained stayer, who later went on to land Aintree's Betfred Bowl, an official rating of 174, enough to make him jumping's outstanding performer.
Sprinter Sacre, the champion of 2012-2013, earned his accolade with a rating of 188.
Sire De Grugy, crowned horse of the season in a public vote last month, on this occasion had to settle for second with a team of handicappers led by Phil Smith and Noel O'Brien, crowning him the sport's top two-miler with a figure of 172, the same mark Cue Card earned in the three miles-plus division after winning the Betfair Chase and finishing second to Silviniaco Conti at Kempton.
Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Lord Windermere was rated just 166, making him only the seventh highest-rated chaser with Last Instalment (169), Captain Chris (169) and Dynaste (167) also all deemed to have produced better performances.
Cheltenham victors Jezki and More Of That share top billing among hurdlers with the Champion Hurdle and World Hurdle winners both pegged on 169.
Next best among hurdlers were My Tent Or Yours (168), The New One (167) and Hurricane Fly (166).
In the novice categoriesHolywell is rated the best staying novice chaser since Gloria Victis on 163, while Faugheen (161) was deemed superior to his Willie Mullins-trained stable companion Vautour (158). ( Racing Post )
