Why did it never occur to me before, I wonder...

These are the 5d decs for the big novice hurdle on Saturday. I'm going to print a copy off and stick it in my notes for the festival.

I'm thinking that if at this stage of the season they're thought good enough to be entered for this race then those with more modest ORs might well be chucked in should they go for a handicap.

Does that not seem logical?

There can be lots of reasons why a horse is entered for a horse race and they are not always connected with perceived ability.

Sometimes the owners just want a day out - applying financial logic to how racehorses are acquired and campaigned is a minefield.
