My good day could have been substantially better if James Bowen had not got so far behind on Transmission.
I know its a hold up horse but there's no need to be that far back.it wasn't as if he was outpaced he was travelling OK.
Yes I am talking through my pocket but he cost me £800.

I've finally had a look at this one, OS, and, while I recognise your frustration, I wouldn't lay blame on the jockey here, really.

Firstly, this was run at a good, fast pace and I don't think there'd be anything wrong in laying off the pace and watching the leaders burn themselves out. The fact that Transmission couldn't, finally, make up the lengths was brought about by the consecutive mistakes that the horse made, principally on the fences leading to the top of the hill before the final run down . When Bowen started to gather, wanting to take closer order, the horse would contact the fence and slow his rhythm. That put him too far behind to mount a serious challenge.

Another thing that occurs is that maybe this was happening too quickly and he might well prove to be an out-and-out stayer. Connections mentioned the NH Chase but we should also consider keeping an eye open for the Scottish National, don't you think?
