Hi Guys,

13h45 Double Duet 5/1. Now the conditions should suit my selection today, and hopefully he can go to the front with the track running fast and a tail wind today he should keep running all the way to the line.

14h20 Apache Dream 7/2 BEST BET. Now she is another who will enjoy conditions. She is a strong front runner and if she can control the race and get a good lead into the straight she will win against these with a low weight.

14h55 Silver Sabre 5/2. I am hoping Louis can take her to the front here with these conditions and a strong tail wind and looking at the field she is the only known front runner here and with a good draw she will be dangerous if she can skip clear up the straight. BIG RUNNER

15h30 Sir Tallin 12/1. VALUE BET. Run to stronger than fav Mr Master Starter and my selection is 4kg better and has top rider Grant Van Niekerk on board. Blinkers on is the key here so hoping he is closer to pace and don't let them get away i make my selection a runner at a good price.

Cheers

At least you are consistant 3 of the 4 finished 2nd last:lol:

I don't think anyone on here backs South African horses mate this is a UK and Irish based horse site,

But it's a free world knock yourself out.:p

:(

Not a lot of people watch juvenile hurdlers either, but if it's your passion then do it to your hearts content regardless of what others may think.

I am quite sure that Tanlic isn't coming from a place of malice, and there is perhaps some validity lingering somewhere amongst his barb.

Personally, I seldom pay attention to these threads, primarily because, as Tanlic alludes, there is very little familiarity or continuity.

For the former, these horses' names are just that. Names. No different to something randomly generated for virtual racing or a computer game. Why should we, the British or Irish centric reader care for them? In what way are we invested? By the same token, what is a 13h45 at Kenilworth when it's at home? A maiden race for 2yos? A seller? A classic trial? For those familiar with the SA structure and are simply interested in tips, this would probably be fine. There are plenty of healthy and well subscribed threads of a similar ilk across the European racing boards. But why should those spending enough time immersing themselves with British and Irish racing expend energy on something completely anonymous?

This is not to say that we are all devoid of curiosity. Far from it. But we still need to be enticed. Perhaps it would help if you gave some context as to what these races are, how they interact with others and where they may lead. What is the ecosystem? Who are the trainers, jockeys, sires etc? Does such a trainer like introducing good horses at certain tracks? Are certain sires adept at getting stayers? Indeed, given that several of SA based stallions may be familiar to the audience on this forum, some will definitely be enticed to learn of how the likes of Canford Cliffs, Duke Of Marmalade, Oratorio and Twice Over are getting on. Furthermore, since some people will take an interest in the Dubai season, they would be only too happy to hear what a local has to say about the South African contingent. This would also be a decent niche as there are some peculiar souls who are at a loss during the winter months who are just itching for the flat season to resume. You'll pretty much get a clear shot of their attention.

As far as continuity goes, most racing fans like a story/narrative/arc which they can follow. If you're just posting a new thread for each day, how are we supposed to know how what you're posting ties into what you posted last week? Or its significance towards what's coming next week? Is that good thing you put up running again? There's a better chance of knowing if it is in the same thread because nobody will be trawling through the catalogue to find previous editions. Even if you are strictly about the tips, how is the reader supposed to know if your selections have been any good? Why should they give any credence to your prowess if there is no evidence at hand.

I haven't just taken time out of my day to **** on your cornflakes. Entirely the opposite. I think it is brilliant when someone with a strong knowledge of a niche is willing to share the fruits of their accumulated experience and labour. Some of the most impressive and well regarded threads I have seen over the years have not been on the championship races where every man and his dog has an opinion. They have been on point to pointers, unraced two-year-olds, Dubai, obscure handicappers and the likes. Quality of content does count for a lot, but the admiration stems from the fact that another person is willing to educate and elucidate others on an area of the sport where common knowledge is lacking in mainstream sources.

These words are yours to do as you please. Definitely keep posting, but give yourself a better chance of getting others to engage. Otherwise, your work will just be ignored (save for the occasional snippy remark) and you will feel like it is an absolute waste of time. It is one of life's most tremendous shames whenever someone is discouraged from undertaking a passion. Best of luck and keep kicking on.
