Hurry up and move!!
Anyone know where I can get a CHEAP preferably freestanding set of Kitchen units? Ive just spent hours on ebay, cos I dont mind if they are 2nd hand, but all they seem to have is ones with wall units and appliances of some description - I dont want ovens/hobs/sinks/extractor fans, and wall units arent any good, cos my mum is only about 4 foot tall, and will think Im taking the p1ss !! ( she has some seriously high wedge shoes she wears when shes cooking, just so she can reach teh back of the units.... )

They need to be easy to build, cos I will be doing it ( hence the preferably freestanding part!) and I really dont have a budget of very much at all - so as cheap as possible!!...

anyone know anywhere?

Wickes do them flat packed ready to take away and they're reasonably priced too.

Troods, you could try advertising for some in your local giveaway paper. Or, if you see a property under refurbishment, maybe pop in and speak to the builders in it and see if they've got some for free, rather than them skipping them. Third, try your local amenity tip! Seriously - the guys in charge select out the good bits and flog 'em off to all kinds of people who visit the tips. (I don't mean the landfill site - I mean where people take their stoves and beds to chuck away!) Or, does your newsagent have a window for 'wanted' ads and you could put a note in there? Finally - honest! - your local Council or Housing Associations might be refurbishing some flats or houses and there could be a set you could have for free or a fiver. Doesn't really matter if they're not terrifically modern, as long as they're serviceable and do the job.

If you get Loot (is that Nationwide or just NW?) which I think is a free giveaway paper like Kri mentions above. If your local area has a particular internet forum you could try asking on that.

Some charity shops (British Heart Foundation for certain) have specialist home shops which sell things like that.

Yes, that's right - we have a very large warehouse full of home stuff which supports the local hospice. Good idea.

Thankyou - am off to Ikea tonight for a look - hopefully they have a sale on!

Then Wikes, homebase and places like that either Sat or Sunday (depemdimg on whether I spend tomorrow afternoon at Chepstow or I actually get it off!)

and picking up a yrllow paper on my way home....

:D
