Well I just don't beleive my eyes and ears I was watching 24hr news and they are saying he should be knighted for putting forword his menus to schoolchildren/schools... is this how meaningless they have made a knighthood?????

Well, considering some of the bozos who receive a medal merely for running fast or whatever, my hat is off to Sir Jamie, as at least he's had the guts to make a very big point.

I shouldn't think he's flavour of the month with corporates like Bernard Matthews and other purveyors of the disgusting matter that is called food in school canteens... Wouldn't be at all surprised if 'life' hasn't been made quite difficult for him.

All credit to him for dragging this important topic into the news and for getting a lot of parents to actually thinhk about what goes down their kids' necks, instead of always taking the quick and easy way out.

Agreed and now I should like him to start on food for the elderly . Some of the muck people are serve din care homes and in meals on wheels is a disgrace

As explaned before, Sir Mark Thatcher did not receive a knighthood. He is a baronet, who take the title "Sir", and like, Sir Mark Prescott, inherited the baronetcy from his father.

However, this entire thread is very tabloidish. There is no serious suggestion that Jamie Oliver be knighted, but suddenly there is a debate about the rights and wrongs of whether it should happen.

They should have executed his old man to avoid it. If that doesn't work under the Burkes rules or whatever, they should extradite him to Eq. Guinea.
