If they can modify their voices and stop thinking we all need to be deafened by high-pitched shrieking (it's bad enough with the blokes in falsetto overdrive), I can't see the big deal about this. We don't need to have every horse SHOUTED HOME - just a clear, accurate race reading will do fine. The four young women who took part did a fair enough job, considering they do other things with their lives and haven't had years of practice in which to get things right or horribly wrong.

Hayley Moore won the two grand prize, part of RfC's efforts to broaden racing's appeal, it would seem.

Remember the hoo-ha about lady newsreaders all those years ago?

As you say, Krizon, remembering that not all horses need to be shouted home and taking an example from Sir Peter O'Sullevan doing the commentary as his own horse won at Cheltenham - professional - just a little quiver towards the end betrayed his excitement.
