P/R that's what you get for saying it was georgeous the first time she ever cooked it for you?.......... :D

Its the greatest mistake of being in a marriage WE have all done it and suffered the consequences for years on end............

I think really you need to aknowledge a meal she cooks and put a provoisio in it saying "that was nice love be o/k to have twice a year" :D :D .........

oh forgot to add I just ate a madras curry prawn half and half home made too:o

See Forum Food section. And tonight it was back to Sainsbury's red Thai chicken, this time with egg-fried rice. I forgot, last night I didn't have the Moroccan chicken from Boots. That was the night before. Last night I had reheated cod in batter ex-Lingfield Park chippie, and one packet of microwarped French fries, with lots of malt vinegar and rock salt. Fabulous. And plenty of tap water.

Our local convenience store has just begun stocking 'Cuisine de France' breads and pastries, which regrettably include the not-so-French but jam-bursting doughnut. I have laid waste to several already, plus their pecan-and-apple slice, croissants, batons and baguettes. Sadly, the prospect of regaining the svelte outlines of yesteryear look even more remote.

That comment brought back a few memories! When I was a kid, my best chum's parents were somewhat 'old-fashioned', to say the least (very strict Methodists..). Anyway, I used to be fascinated by the fact that my friend always knew what would be for supper/dinner that day, because it was always the same, every week - ie cottage pie Mondays, cold meat salad Tuesdays, etc etc - regardless of the time of year.

I think this is the image many foreigners still have of UK cookery - sad.....

So it really does still exist, then!?!
