Series hat began Sunday last on TG4 featured Dawn Run.
Like all it did not tell the full story but was entertaining nonetheless.
Should be available on TG4player and later episodes to feature Arkle, L'Escargot, Danoli, Monksfield, Istabraq, Limestone Lad Tiger Roll and Doran's Pride, though next episode not until mid February
Might enlighten some younger members that there were racehorses pre JP, Giggi and Ricci

Doran’s and Limestone Lad two of my all-time faves.

Will need to get their pictures up in the Darts Shed ‘Gallery of Greats’ soon.

It was very well made as most documentaries on Tg4 are.

What an entertaining and formidable woman Mrs Hill was.

Imagine an owner trying that with Paddy’s son now!

Look forward to the rest of the series.

Maybe this should be on racing memories section but here is as good a place as any.

I first encountered Mrs Hill at Lismore p2p meeting 1978 or79.
She rode a winner that day defeating Ted Walsh if memory serves me.
So along came Dawn Run and the time of Jonjo O'Neill taking over the ride from Tony Mrs Hill was quoted as saying her horses would only ever ridden by Irish born jockeys as I recall.
Come 1984/85 one of her horses ran in Leopardstown November Handicap off a light weight so an English lightweight jockey took the ride .
When asked about her statement re Irish jockeys she replied ;" That is only a flat race ".
Nobody reminded her of her statement when Michel Chirol was booked to ride Dawn Run after Tony was jocked off following her defeat in Prix Barka 1986, her French Champion Hurdle prep.
That is my memory so someone please feel free to correct any inaccuracies before I write the book Granger at one stage wanted to read !

Looking at the Dawn Run episode, it really surprised me that Willie did not try emulate his father with Faugheen

Mrs Hill was a tyrant but she was courageous iwth her goals
