Right so, I'm doing a last man/woman standing comp (see the forum comps thread). Here's how it'll work, I hope . Six rounds (a round being a mini comp over a few weekends) with the last man/woman standing in each round getting a €25 free bet (to be placed the following weekend). The six winners will then have their own comp (which I expect to be before Crimbo) and the winner will get a €50 free bet (to be placed the following weekend).
So how does a round work. I will pick one race each weekend (so this weekend, or Round 1 Leg 1, will be the Middle Park). Just pick a horse which you think will win the race. Entries must be in 30 minutes before the published start time of the race (no exceptions - there'll always be another round, until the end of course ). If your horse doesn't run you go on the fav (if joint favs then the one which has the highest racecard number). If your horse wins then you go through to the next leg the following week. If your horse loses then you're out (until the next round). As time goes on through a round, the number of participants will decrease as ye get knocked out. It is most likely that when we get down to only two or three participants left then no-one might have the winner of the chosen race so whoever finishes closest will be declared the winner. If two or more have the same horse which finishes closest then it will go to the following week and another leg to separate ye.
I hope that all makes sense. I'm hoping it will be a fun comp and I'll try to keep it to smallish field races so we get a few weeks out of each round. I hope the rules are clear but let me know if you need any clarification. So good luck this weekend.
Round 1 Leg 1 is the 2.20 Newmarket Middle Park Stakes (Group 1)
