Head on block time.

Champion hurdle class. Wins the mares novice this year at Cheltenham.

Happy enough with the 3/1 after the race and happy to go in again now.

Time to bet like men etc etc

Not sure about Champion Hurdle class, but thought the same re the mares and backed her yesterday... I can see her going off very short

The form, based on the ORs of the beaten horses, appears very good but when they're running 40-odds seconds slow because of heavy ground I tend to worry about anything replicating the form on better going.

Yeah, Maria's Benefit is one from the small yard under the radar fanciers. And had she not run in Doncaster, you'd feel that she had every chance - especially for the handicap slaves. Guess they got a shock this weekend. It would be amazing if Doncaster didnt leave a mark - in fact, it looked as if Taunton had left its mark last weekend. Love the animal.

As I said, head on block time. Laurina will win the mares in such style that the argument will be would she have won the supreme and will Willie target her at the Champion or the Mares in 2019. I've gone in again.

Laurina is very good but you'd like to know how she will go on going with 'good' in the description. In any case, she may not be the best 5yo Spanish Moon novice mare at Closutton.

For what it’s worth, Crackerdancer scoped very badly after that mares novice on Saturday so that absolutely was not her true running.

Is that definitely the plan Archie? She's a big price if it is but would she have to carry a 5lb penalty for her win?

Ruby was quoted as saying she's a small horse so they'd be better off sticking to races where she'd have around 11st but you'd know better than me as I presume you've seen her in the flesh.

As far as I can see, the only penalties are 5lb for winning a Class 1 wfa or 3lb for winning a Class 2 wfa or Class 1 handicap hurdle. That means she'd get in off 11-2 and she'll at least get the entry if she stays sound.

That's what I thought but Bloody Mary carried a 5lb penalty last year and had only won a C4 novice hurdle, unless they took her Auteuil win into account but that was a conditions race.

Best of luck with her anyhow.

Hi Archie. You mean an entry in the Mares Novice hurdle or the Supreme? Thanks

Mares Novice for ours, DH.
Thanks Archie. Not in the betting with any of the NRNB firms at present, but looks like 25/1 available with William Hill who have "money back if your horse misses the festival" concession. So if this is shanning's only target, and considering your subtle comments vs Laurina, then surely worth a small pop each way?

I wouldn't know how she compares to Laurina but Ruby was very impressed with her at Galway and this has been the plan since then. She was on the easy list for a while at the end of last year but seems fine now and will probably go straight to the Festival because there's no suitable prep race.

Its not an event I've looked at but just from a quick scan of the betting Redhotfillypeppers wins best named animal ever period! Owners deserve a win on that basis alone.

She may or may not get the entry but it looks more than likely that Shanning will miss Cheltenham and go to the Irish festivals.
