Already I;m missing the facility - not the only one I'm missing I hear you say - either to go directly to the first unread (by me) post or the most recent one immediately.

Like GH, I'm hugely appreciative of all the work taking place behind the scenes but I feel the place needs to evolve - and fast - from its current set-up.

So you would prefer to see the forum landing page without the recent threads and posts at the top? This was a holdover from the old site and I did not want to change that. If I turned that feature off, you would have to click this link to see what is new.



That might be difficult for folks. Maybe take a vote on it? LOL

My thoughts on this for the longest time is just move General Racing topics to the top above newest posts. It's by far the most heavily contributed to thread and on what is primarily a horse racing forum probably the best thing to have at the top and probably much simpler for you to sort I'd imagine Bryan.

Thanks for the efforts Bryan I think most of the regular contributors have had similar thoughts about the home page needing sorting out a bit even the longest standing members like Archie and co.

Unfortunately, that won't work - the newest posts is a widget - not a forum section (if that makes sense LOL). I could move that to the side column, But that would be a major change - that said, I can look at other options.

Actually, if you log out - please check the main forum page again and you will see how it looks without that widget. It's only visible to those logged in

I have a brief (well, brief for me) but, I feel, important point to make.

I could not begin to care about any of this - the forum is fine for me as is and I'll cope with (or simply ignore) any changes I don't like.

This brings me to the important bit.

As I don't care, in the event of a vote, my individual vote in each poll is for individual sale to the highest bidder via DM.

I accept most currencies, including crypto, you know where to find (fund) me, gerrymanderers!

This is a racing forum.

Just my view but, because it works elsewhere, I would like to see a simple home page along the lines of:

National Hunt Racing
(Most recent post)

Flat Racing
(Most recent post)

Competitions and Polls
(Most recent post)

******

Below this a message that when you log in there would be further sections revealed:

Members Only - Sports/Politics/General

Members Only - Blogs

******

At the top of the page would be a link to 'New Posts' (or 'What's new) which shows all posts since you last logged in grouped by thread.

The point being that a route to anything you might want to access is shown on that home page which just about fits on a single screen. It is far more user friendly than the current layout on here. While you might have to do an extra click to get to the new posts, you don't have to go through several pages of unpopulated home page to ensure that you've seen what people are watching or the latest predictions on Scottish football.

We're (mostly) simple racing people with simple requirements.
