Cooldine, Jayo, Golden Silver, Sublimity, Harchibald, Jered, Hardy Eustace, Casey Jones, Big Zeb etc amongst plenty of others due to work after racing tomorrow. Expect the usual guessing game on attheraces tomorrow!

Always worth a look..even if it is hard to know who's who at times:confused:

To be honest in terms of clues these racecourse gallops are worthless to the punter. And the hype that follows is almost laughable.

Essentially we see a group of horse fit and well striding out over inconsequential trips to the trainers orders, with some needing the day out more than others. They are carrying different weights and in most cases are ridden by work riders who will do nothing more than wave them off in a weeks time.

Enjoyable to watch yes, but useless as any sort of guide.

Plenty of hype about them but equally some valuable info to be gained from them if you view them in the right context.

Perhaps its a personal thing Gal. I don't see the what there is to be gained from a punters perspective other than they've still got a leg in each corner at this late stage. Yes some will be having more of a blow than others but they won't be having their last piece of fast work until the week coming. And that aside you don't know what comparative weights they've got on their backs so the visual impression can be misleading.

Agreed you can see just how fit they are at this stage (you'd expect them to be pretty close now anyway), and just how well they are in their coats if you're there, but you can make the same assessment at the Festival from the paddock. Watching them on tv is not the best place to pass judgement from.

Off the top of my head....poor gallop by Moscow before the Champion Chase, Sky's The Limit showing himself in rude health before his Cheltenham handicap win, Missed That impressing in a gallop, riding arrangements for the Mullins bumper horses etc.

Granted its not going to give you a sure priced winner for Cheltenham but it all helps.

I agree with you Maruco - they're gallops, not races. Each gallop is more than likely engineered from the start, and people tend to finish where they're told to. The only people who can draw much information from gallops are those who are privy to reports from each rider as to how well his horse went and who were also aware of what the instructions were that were issued prior to the event!

and the jockey on the chesnut that was trying to bomb off between every fence during the mile and a halfish of schooling fences at the end, that was a great riding effort.

I think an open gallop session like today is far more likely to give someone a licence to see what they want to see as opposed to the reality of what it is really is

SICILIAN SECRET shot to the head of the market for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper on Sunday after seriously impressing work-watchers at Leopardstown.
Ridden by trainer Willie Mullins' sonPatrick, Sicilian Secret came back five lengths in front of stablemates Quel Esprit (Ruby Walsh), Meath All Star (Paul Townend) and Not For Converting (David Casey), after an exercise over about a mile and a half that developed into a sprint over the last two furlongs.

Sicilian Secret was slashed to 4-1 (from 13-2) by William Hill. Boylesports and Blue Square also quote that price, with former joint favourite Dunguib relegated to general 7-1 second favourite.
In a separate spin, Mullins worked another four Cheltenham Bumper possibles, with Gagewell Flyer (Ruby Walsh) and Cranky Corner (David Casey) finishing upsides, ahead of Cadspeed (Patrick Mullins) and Glenlo Abbey (Paul Townend).
Mullins, who has won the Champion Bumper six times, said: "I was pleased enough with the two sets of bumper horses, but I'd have to say Sicilian Secret appeared to work the best.
"There are a few others at home we didn't bring that are still in the mix. How many will run and who will ride them are decisions for next weekend, but Katie Walsh will be on Morning Supreme."
Fiveforthree, winner of last year's Ballymore Properties Novices' Hurdle but unraced this term, led home a quintet of Mullins-trained hurdlers, finishing in front of Persian City and Williamhill.com Supreme Novices' Hurdle candidate Kempes.
Mullins said: "Ruby rode Kempes and was happy with him. He was also happy with Cooldine, who goes for the RSA Chase, after he schooled over fences with five other chasers of ours, including Golden Silver, who goes for the Arkle. Paul [Townend]) is happy withhim."

Like I said, they should be taken in the context that they are gallops, but history has shown them to be pretty helpful.

Racegoers at Donny yesterday were invited to stay behind after racing to watch 20-25 Cheltenham / Aintree hopefuls gallop and school. Howard Johnson and Malcolm Jefferson were represented whilst cheating Ferdy Murphy brought some despicable non triers.

Really, really impressed with Sicilian Secret. Really impressive horse in the flesh.

Was Casey Jones' gallop on ATR?

SICILIAN CUT FOR BUMPER BID

By Martin Kelly, PA Sport

Willie Mullins' Sicilian Secret came in for plenty of support following a stylish piece of work at Leopardstown and is now favourite in places for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper.
A whole host of equine stars headed to the south Dublin track to complete their final preparations ahead of the Cheltenham Festival, and it was Mullins who dominated proceedings with 18 individuals stretching their legs.
The champion trainer worked eight bumper horses in total with the Patrick Mullins-ridden Sicilian Secret - a recent winner at the circuit - getting the better of Ruby Walsh aboard the ridden-along Quel Esprit.
Meath All Star (Paul Townend) finished strongly behind the pair with Not For Converting (David Casey) bringing up the rear.
Mullins also worked Gagewell Flyer (Walsh) who was pushed out to finish upsides Casey and the strong-travelling Cranky Corner, with Cadspeed and Glenlo Abbey in behind.
Last year's Ballymore Properties' Hurdle winner Fiveforthree led a handful of his stablemates in Mullins' first gallop with Walsh content to coast past the line on Kempes.
Last of Mullins' horses onto the track were his chasers with RSA favourite Cooldine (Walsh), Golden Silver (Townend), Jayo (Casey), Scotsirish (Patrick Mullins), Taipan's Way (Barry Geraghty) and J'y Vole (John Cullen) all in attendance.
The six did a circuit of the track jumping several fences, with Cooldine brushing through the final obstacle to finish just behind the Arkle-bound Golden Silver with Champion Chase and Ryanair-entered Scotsirish bustled up to come between the pair.
Mullins said: "Ruby was happy with Kempes but said he needed it.
"Ruby blamed himself for Cooldine missing the last but the horse righted himself and in the main jumped well.
"I didn't bring Quinola des Obeaux as he has done plenty at home and Cousin Vinny worked very well yesterday morning as did Mikael D'Haguenet.
"Both are in the picture but there is no decision about which races they run in."
Sublimity, winner of the 2007 Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle, stretched well clear of stablemate Kong in the hands of jockey Philip Carberry, with fellow Champion Hurdle contenders Hardy Eustace and Won In The Dark both doing a circuit with one other.
JCB Triumph Hurdle entry Ebadiyan blew away the cobwebs in company with a stablemate, while Davy Russell enjoyed a solo spin on Made In Taipan ahead of their date in the Irish Independent Arkle Trophy.
Classic-winning Flat jockey Seamus Heffernan rode a piece of work on James Leavy's Abroad and will partner the five-year-old should he make the cut for the bumper.
