I think that was much of the programme's point. This Govt abolished that due to financial cutbacks and then complains when they get it wrong . I have to admit i am not sure that i would have let the arsonist out!

The lifer was lucky enough to be represented by a very good barrister ! A good friend of mine .
The lifer case puzzles me. For twenty years this country has fed and watered a criminal, illegal immigrant and now that he is considered 'safe' enough to release into the community he is sent back to his native land( at our cost) to contribute to their economy. The British tax payer also paid for Ardross's friend to argue his case for him( I bet that wasn't insignificant). Was he given the two and a half grand spending money as well or was his case before that idea came about?
Just to confirm that I shoud be kept well clear of such decision making I too got the other two the wrong way round. I would have moved the arsonist to Broadmoor and employed the armed robber as my minder for when I meet SL on Saturday.
