These are the sort of times on both days that should be achieved on middle Good ground

Saturday

96.1 sec - Prix Daniel Wildenstein
155.0 sec - Prix De Royallieu
119.5 sec - Prix Dollar

Sunday

55.5 sec - L'Abbaye
96.7 sec - Marcel Boussac
79.2 sec - Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere
122.0 sec - Prix L'Opera

Prix De Royallieu = 164.17 = 9.17 sec slower than Good

5.9 seconds per mile slower than Good = SOFT

more nearer heavy end than the g/s end ..possibly pace not even

rivée définitive

N° Cheval Jockey Distance
1 4 Cirrus des Aigles C. Soumillon 2'02''83

last year
2m 7.95s (slow by 8.95s)

119.5 sec - Prix Dollar for Good ground

122.83 for the Dollar = 2.7 seconds per mile slower than Good

fair to say Cirrus is above the average for a winner so using the 2nd horse its 3 seconds slower which is on the cusp of G/S and SOFT

working off the 3rd horse its similar to the Wildenstein indicator of SOFT

thats a decent time for the first two home

It's probably a translation of 'tres souple', which would be open to as much interpretation as an declaration from one of our CoCs.

I'm much more inclined to believe EC1's interpretation.

RP update at 10.15:

No rain overnight in Paris
There has been no overnight rain, and the ground remains SOFT reports our French correspondent Scott Burton. The rail will be moved back 18 metres so the course is at its maximum width. ( 1 hour ago)
