Lost Racecourses of Britain

No none of them.

But I did go to Teesside Park or Stockton racecourse when still intact. Also went racing several times to Wye and Folkestone.

Looks as if Yarmouth will join them.

Hereford the only one I went to that's closed, although I loved Chepstow before it was "lost" when taken over by the Northern Racing muppets.

Sam Shorrock won at Hereford and Folkestone for me. They're the only 2 tracks that I've been to that are fully closed now but I went a few times to Wolverhampton when it was a proper racecourse. Of the old tracks, I do remember racing taking place at Hurst Park and Manchester and have a vague memory of the last Manchester November Handicap being broadcast by BBC radio. I found this footage as well:

The other old track that I know is Alexandra Park because I've played cricket against the club of the same name. The pitches can be seen in the overhead photo.

I've got the Chris Pitt book, A Long Time Gone, that's mentioned in the article. I think it was donated by trudi as a competition prize. Very interesting but more a reference book than a long read.

Hereford and Folkestone for me, and Nottingham and Wolverhampton might as well be closed for me now it's flat only. Some of the older courses eg Buckfastleigh are now ptp courses.

I've got that Chris Pitt book too, apparently the first edition is more valuable than any later ones, though I've never checked by how much or even if it's true.

I have the Chris Pitt book too. A good project but a dry read as Archie says

i was actually born across directly across the river from hurst park and brought up within a mile. Parents weren't into racing but did go there so although I was no more than 2 when it closed, maybe I went. Dunno

often cycle along there

Hereford in the same condition as Buckfastleigh in that it now stages p2p's, Cottenham is also an ex-rules venue apparently though seems to be no mention of it in Chris Pitt's great book.

I've been to Lewes racecourse but sadly not when there was racing there - the old running rail is still intact though and the yard where John Gosden's father sent out Classic winners is at the bottom of Jim Best's AW gallop.

Cottenham appears in the 1920-1941 section, Martin. It's listed as Cambridge (Cottenham) because it was known as Cambridge for racing under rules.
