He was a good writer and a good singer. A piece of LVD trivia is that he appeared on the first ever edition of Sesame Street. He was only 53, but had a stroke a couple of years ago.
Heard on the radio earlier he got his break doing backing vocals on a Bowie album.
Wasn't my cup of tea musically, but definitely a fine singing voice. RIP Luther.
Never warmed to his music, but RIP anyway. 53 was a great age to be appearing on the first edition of Sesame St. I thought he was a little younger than that.

Elton John & Luther Vandross “Anyone Who Had A Heart”
Celine Dion “Dance With My Father”
Wyclef “Always & Forever”

Actually Pepsi the album is quite good .Celine´s version is very good as the song by Patti and the Beyonce/Stevie duo. The dance version of Donna Summer is good as well .
Some of these songs are 25 years old and it´s refreshing listening other versions.
