Luther Vandross Has Died

He was a good writer and a good singer. A piece of LVD trivia is that he appeared on the first ever edition of Sesame Street. He was only 53, but had a stroke a couple of years ago.

RIP

A lovely singing voice, and a good-looking guy, too. Just no age to be dying at, either. Thanks for the good sounds at long-ago parties, Luther. B)

Heard on the radio earlier he got his break doing backing vocals on a Bowie album.
Wasn't my cup of tea musically, but definitely a fine singing voice. RIP Luther.

Very sad news. I have to admit to him being one of my favourites, which probably says alot about my taste in music in my youth.

A real loss to the music industry.

Never warmed to his music, but RIP anyway. 53 was a great age to be appearing on the first edition of Sesame St. I thought he was a little younger than that.

The tribute album is out now :

Mary J Blige “Never Too Much”
Usher “Superstar”
Fantasia “Til My Baby Comes Home”
Beyonce & Stevie Wonder “So Amazing”
Aretha Franklin “A House Is Not A Home”
Donna Summer “Power of Love”
Alicia Keys & Jermaine Paul “If This World Were Mine”
Elton John & Luther Vandross “Anyone Who Had A Heart”
Celine Dion “Dance With My Father”
Wyclef “Always & Forever”
Babyface “If Only For One Night”
Patti Labelle “Here & Now”
John Legend “Love Won’t Let Me Wait”
Angie Stone “Since I Lost My Baby”
Jamie Foxx “Creepin”

Priceless.

Oh that's horrible, even I liked him!

Wait, a tribute album already? Celine Dion singing Dance With My Father? Eurgh she is going to kill the song...

Actually Pepsi the album is quite good .Celine´s version is very good as the song by Patti and the Beyonce/Stevie duo. The dance version of Donna Summer is good as well .
Some of these songs are 25 years old and it´s refreshing listening other versions.
